Is it safe to get a filling done at the dentist hile pregnant?
I just found out I’m 5 weeks pregnant and have an appointment to get a filling done tomorrow.
Is it safe to do while pregnant?
Of course I’m going to ask my dentist tomorrow but was just wondering what everyone thinks?
Thanks.

Yes the dentist can perform work while you are in your first trimester. But make sure you tell them that you are wanting#4
it’s usually better to wait until the second trimester but i would ask you’re dentist. i know x-rays are a big no but i think fillings shouldn’t be a problem. ladypois7
Yeah get it all done in the first trimester cause once you’re into the second and third they won’t touch you unless it’s a super emergency! Teresa
it is very safe as long as you inform the dentist. The needles are safe for injections too. I have had 4 fillings done while pregnant and baby bump is fine and safe.
Hope all goes well! mini me and bumps mum
Many dentists won’t do a filling while you are pregnant unless it is completely unavoidable (i.e. fell out). There has been no evidence that amalgam is an issue during pregnancy, however, because it does contain mercury and mercury crosses the placenta, you might instead consider the more expensive epoxy filling. The advantage – no mercury at all. Disadvantage – it may not last as long as amalgam.
I personally would hold off work until after the baby is born, but that is because I have had reactions to the anesthetic, not because of the filling. Doodlestuff
i had dental work all throughout my pregnancy just make sure they know that your pregnant i actually got 3 fillings and the gave me extra protection for me n my unborn child so it should be alright Shaunice H
