Susan asked:

I have 2 young boys and I have no yet finished high school (I have about 3 years incomplete!) I am planning to go to school to become a dentist (It’s about 8 years to do) and I’m hoping to get started right away. Just wondering is it mandatory to have finished high school to start a college dentist program?

Also how much is it to go threw 8 years of schooling?

Thanks moms!

you have to have a high school diploma or a GED to go to college, period. I don’t know how old you are, but if you’re over 21 you can’t exactly just go back to high school, so you’ll have to go for the GED.

it is very expensive and time consuming to go through 8 years of dental school–plus, consider that you’ll have to get your General Ed requirements completed as well. it will be tough, but if you’re committed i’m sure you’ll be fine. Baby Girl due May 21!

You have to either finish High School or get a GED to go to college. Not all colleges will accept a GED. It will cost a lot to go to dental school, and you will have to take lots of science classes. I’ve never heard of a dentist who was a high school drop out.

you must finish high school to go to college not matter what you are going to study. Its like you can’t go to high school unless you did middle school. You can’t even get in to college with out your high school transcript showing you completed. My Three

You have to have a high school diploma or a GED for a college to let you in. Also, that is an 8 year minimum, and the program probably requires you to take summer classes.
The cost depends on the quality of schooling you want. I suggest you go to community college for the first 2 years, so it is a low cost (anywhere from 2 to 5 thousand dollars a year). Then, you have to go to university (anywhere from 15 to 30 thousand a year). Then, on to dental school (I have no idea how much it costs) and then you have to take your examinations for the license to practice.

    EDIT:
I’ll put the answer to your last question here:
Yeah the really sad thing is that she got 4 thumbs up… and I spent about 10 minutes researching my (I thought was supportive) answer and got a thumbs down.
Probably because they are jealous because you can do something they don’t think they can do. :( People are just so freaking rude!!
